The 2019 cricket season has now drawn to a close and the club has seen some success on the field, with the Men’s 4th XI exceeding all expectations in their division and in particular the massive success of the newly formed Women’s section which continues to grow and go from strength to strength.
However, it has been noted that the 1st, 2nd & 3rd XI’s, in spite of a number of injuries, didn’t perform as well as we would have liked and the committee and I would like to assure you that a full in-depth review has taken place in regard to men’s senior cricket and positive actions have been put in place to improve performance in the 2020 season.
Off the field the Club continues to stabilise its finances, develop its growing membership base and provide a steady stream of social events such as the Beer Festival which help to improve the club’s income. This has allowed us to invest significant money back into the Club, not only on the cricket side with a new net facility, scoreboard and ball stop net recently, but also some much needed bar equipment and upgrades in the members areas in the clubhouse with new carpets, furniture and rooms being freshened up with some paint
All of the above doesn’t happen on its own and is down to the volunteers who give up their own time to run the Club on behalf of the members. During the course of the past few months a number of members of the current Management Committee have decided that they’re unable to continue in a committee position due to personal reasons. This has left us with a number of vacancies on the Club's Management Committee:
Events & Communications
Cricket Manager (Senior Cricket)
General Committee Member
The Club needs suitable people to step forward and fill these roles from the mid-November EGM onwards to help build on the success of the current committee.
If you’re interested in one of the roles, or know someone who may be interested please speak to myself or one of the other committee members as soon as possible.
I look forward to seeing other members of the club step forward to make a difference
