Halesowen Town V Stafford Rangers

Today we welcomed Stafford to Handrahan Stadium on what could only be described as perfect weather for windsurfing except, there was no windsurfers only a bunch of committed footballers trying to play in conditions not akin to beautiful game. Stafford playing with the wind in the first half were having the obvious advantages and were awarded a free kick on the right hand side of the pitch and their the midfielder delivered an excellent cross for his team mate to steer past Sidda in the Halesowen goal. Halesowen were trying to play football and fashioned a great chance via La Marr but a last ditch tackle from the Stafford defender resulted in the shot going just wide. 0-1 at half time.
Second half started well for the home team and they were instantly on the attack when a good run and pull back from Sam Taylor to the on rushing Callum McKenna who seen his strike hit the bar. Stafford’s keeper was made to work very hard when he pulled off a great save from Tyler Cooper’s drive that was heading into the top corner. That was probably as close as the home team came to scoring with Stafford creating a good chance of their own on the break with Sidda again saving to keep the score at 1-0.
Stafford came away as victors and probably deserved on the balance of play with Halesowen having a bit of an off day today with the wind not really helping either side. Good bunch of lads at Stafford who worked hard for their victory and we wish Shaun and the team all the best for the rest of the season.
