Halifax Hammers previously known as Queens Rd
came runners up in division 3 in the year 2005-2006 and got promoted into the division 2.After an average start to the season in the 2nd division, Queens Road named Nayim Akram as their new manager in dec 06.Under Nayim,Queens road went on 10 games winning run.This was enough to secure them their second successive promotion and also reaching the league cup final which they lost 1-0 to cock and bottle.
The highlight of this season was the derby with rivals Halufax Pheonix on 25th March 2007, Queens road were reduced to 9 men within the first 30 minutes with both Robbo and Saggers seeing red. Pheonix took the lead when Tony Ahmed smashed home from the spot Chris and Martin both then scored to put Queens Road in front before Ahemd brought pheonix level from the spot again. 2nd Half saw Martin score his second before an Ahmend 3rd brought Pheonix level again. An own goal from teh Pheonix keeper and then Chris's second wrapped up the points for an exstatic Akram and Queens Road supporters everywhere.
07-08 Season
In the top flight team struggled to get 11 players every week.This was due to six players leaving after being promoted.This resulted as a first relegation to Queens Road, who went down on the final day of the season on goal difference.As soon as Queens Road got relegated Manager Nayim Akram suggested to change the name of the team because he wanted a fresh start and changed the name into Halifax Hammers.
08-09 Season
The first season back in the first division proved to be a roller coaster of a ride, after seven games the Hammers were second bottom and with a massive cup game against Elland AFC looming changes were needed to improve the club's fortunes. Dipping into the transfer market Nayim Akram worked some magic in signing Archie from Royal Hote, Mini from Church Stile aswell as Safeer Khan and Wajid Nawaz from bitter rivals Halifax Pheonix. The signings somewhat changed the fortunes for the Hammers seasons and after defeating Elland 2-1 the team finished a respectable 5th in the league missing out on promotion by 5 points and with Mini winning league player of the year things are looking bright for the new season.
09-10 Season
Chris and Martin Woodhouse have signed from Halifax Pheonix coupled with the additions of Jake Broadhurst and Conner Darnbrook the squad is looking good.Hammers finished 4th and won promotion to top flight hammers also reached senior cup 1/4 final losing to bradshaw pheonix 2-3 after leading 2-0 at break captain martin coldwell won divisonal player of the year 2nd time in row..
10-11 Season
Hammers added new additions to the squad Ishtiaq Ali, Steve Childs, Jasim Salih. Hammers had a fantastic season finishing 4th in the league and were unbeaten away from home all season. The highlight of the season was beating king cross and royal hotel in their own backyards. Hammers reached f.a cup quarter final and senior cup semi final.
11-12 Season
Hammers were dealt a major blow losing seven players most significantly captain Martin Coldwell who has called time on sunday league football and Terriq Pervez suffering a leg injury.
