Last kick of the game seals the win

Yesterday saw Halkyn Utd FC advance to the next round of The Premier Cup against Mold Town United. After collecting the three points back in August against Mold, Halkyn knew what they would be up against today with a place in the Quarter Finals up for grabs.
Halkyn Utd FC welcomed three new players into the starting line up. A massive signing for the club this week, when Leon Pickford transferred from Greenfield FC, Jamie Nicholas who has returned after having a spell at the club last season and finally the club received international clearance for exciting young player Joe Foster.
It did not take long for Halkyn to take the lead in the game, when Joe Foster whipped in a perfectly weighted in swinging corner after 15 minutes, which was met by the head of Captain Sêan Wilkes who nodded past the Mold goalkeeper. Halkyn maintained their stamp on the game until the 21st minute, when Mold managed to get the benefit of the doubt on a close offside decision which lead to Mold grabbing an equaling goal to make it 1-1. Halkyn looked to get their noses in front going into half time, notably the Halkyn midfielders threading some balls into the forward players, who were unlucky not to score with the Mold keeper pulling off some good saves. Mold soaked up the pressure and looked to go direct quickly when possible with the long throws and balls forced long.
Despite Halkyn testing the Mold defence on occasions, Mold were awarded a penalty after they previously tried to win one earlier in the game, which was waved away by the referee as the Mold player threw himself to the floor screaming with no contact being made. Mold scored the penalty that was given soon after, to make it 1-2. Mold took their only two chances on goal in the first half and went into half time 1-2.
After a personnel change at half time with striker Michael Radcliffe being introduced, Halkyn looked to turn possession into goal scoring opportunists and grab the goal to make it 2-2. Mold maintained their plan to play the long ball and try to use their style to get their third goal, however they could not force the ball past the Halkyn defence to trouble the Halkyn goalkeeper. After being denied again by the Mold goalkeeper on numerous occasions, particularly a good save from a free kick by Michael Radcliffe from 20 yards out and again he saved the follow up preventing Leon Pickford bagging a debut goal.
After manager James Manseri made a tactical switch in formation, Halkyn bombarded the Mold defence with chances and finally the consistent pressure payed off, when a crossed ball into the box was converted into his own goal by a Mold player making it 2-2 with 10 minutes to go. Chances came in the closing minutes with Ryan Oldfield firing a shot that whistled past the post and Jack Griffiths hitting the post moments later. However in the last minute of five added on by the referee, Sêan Wilkes found the league's top goalscorer Jon Edmonds on the left wing, when Jon found substitute Ryan Anderson who poked the ball home with the last kick of the game!!!

Final Score - Halkyn Utd FC 3-2 Mold Town United

Man of the match - Leon Pickford new signing impressed on his debut leading by example, being the link from defence to attack through midfield.
