HALL Road Rangers’ latest preseason friendly saw them finish with an overwhelmingly convincing and comfortable 3-0 win over National League North side North Ferriby United.
North Ferriby’s team although in their first pre-season fixture still provided a good test for Dave Ricardo’s men.
Hall Road dominated for large periods and created the much better goal scoring chances throughout, and although Phil Dobson was far from being a spectator, few could argue about the final result.
The first half started much like how the opening pre-season friendly on Saturday had begun.
It took a short while for Hall Road to click into gear but when they did they went from strength to strength.
The first goal was scored by centre back James Piercy with a terrific header from a right hand corner.
Piercy rose above everybody at the near post to glance his header into the top far corner
A few more opportunities came but weren’t too dangerous for the North Ferriby goalkeeper.
The second half was where Hall Road really started to exert their control over their opponents and carved out a large amount of attacks.
The use of substitutions from Rangers after the break was also again largely effective as they helped Hall Road’s momentum and made them even stronger.
The most effective of these substitutions was striker Josh Batty who came onto the pitch and then scored two very well taken goals and was a constant nuisance for the Ferriby rearguard.
The first of his goals was a superb close range finish after a fantastic corner found him in the North Ferriby penalty box.
The second was a superb close range volley, from a pin-point Gareth Owen centre which rounded off a very good performance all round.
The performance and result are very good signs of a team who are getting into their stride and playing some very good football.
The management team of Dave Ricardo and Bill Gill will have been delighted with the way that their team played throughout the game as the new season is now just under a month away.
