PHIL Dobson has been confirmed as the new Hall Road Rangers captain for the 2017/2018 season.
Dobson, who was named in The Bootiful Game's NCEL First Division team of the season last term has a wealth of experience and replaces the retiring Ash Dexter.
Rangers have also confirmed that 'Young Player of the Year' from last season's title winning side, James Piercy has shown great maturity to be named as vice-captain.
Both Dobson, and Piercy were two of the most consistent performers in last season's squad and both have taken to their new on the pitch roles seamlessly in Hall Road's opening two friendly victories.
Rangers boss Dave Ricardo released the following in an official statement:
“Ash was honest enough to admit that due to personal circumstances he couldnt perform or lead us as our captain this season.
He will always be remembered for the man who was the cornerstone of leading us to the first ever NCEL Division One title for the club.
On a personal note he was someone that I got on well with both at games and away from football.
I am lucky enough to have been able to cover the gap he has left quickly and with quality."
Last weekend Rangers unveiled Louis Bruce as Ricardo moved swiftly to replace the undoubted void which will be left by Dexter.
Dobson's appointment as club captain is hardly a surprising appointment.
The well respected keeper has spent close to two decades in local football having served clubs like Bridlington Town, Hall Road Rangers and Sculcoates Amateurs.
James Piercy stepping into the vice-captain role is another positive sign that the club are willing to promote from within.
