A completely dominant performance from Hall Road Rangers saw them comprehensively see off Nostell Miners Welfare 8-0 in their NCEL Division One match at Haworth Park.
Goals from Ash Dexter, Craig Muirhead, Chris Spinks, a Jamie Coulson brace plus a Joe Cooper hat trick, gave Hall Road the all important three points in their quest to achieve promotion to the NCEL Premier Division.
A spectacular first half of football produced 6 goals for Hall Road which blew their opponents away.
Ash Dexter opened the scoring in the 15th minute of the game with a bullet header from a corner kick.
Three minutes later, Jamie Coulson grabbed his first goal of the game with a header after a terrific cross from the right wing.
The best goal scored in the entire game came in the 28th minute when Joe Cooper chested the ball down and struck a venomous volley straight into the top corner of the Nostell net.
A glorious strike from Craig Muirhead and 2 more goals from Joe Cooper followed, and gave Hall Road an unassailable 6 goal lead at half time which could have been 7 had it not been for Jake Vernon’s miss.
The second half was more about Hall Road keeping possession of the ball and trying to add to their lead.
In the 47th minute, Chris Spinks, or Spinksy as he is known by the fans converted Hall Road’s 2nd penalty of the game to make the scoreline 7-0.
An 8th goal was added through Jamie Coulson in the 67th minute.
After this thumping victory, Hall Road Rangers now sit in 2nd place in the NCEL Division One table which would guarantee them automatic promotion but with 2 league games left it is all down to them to prove they are capable of coping with the immense pressure of their task.
This was my first ever Hall Road Rangers match and I was very impressed by what I saw both on and off the pitch. The people that are involved with the running of the club are fantastic and much credit has to be given to chairman Darren Sunley and vice chairman Lee Myers for how they have transformed the club to become promotion challengers after many struggles in previous seasons.
I am looking forward to coming back to Haworth Park many more times to see if Hall Road Rangers can rise up the football pyramid and being a part of their media team producing many more articles like this.
