Hall Road Rangers saved their best performance for last as they ran out 2-1 winners over Premier League side Bottesford Town on Saturday. Under the blistering sun tempers faired on occasion and tackles where fired in from all sides as both sides competed for the win in their last preseason games before the season starts for real next Saturday.
With the post ratted at both ends of the ground during the opening stages of the game Rangers looked a different outfit to that which took to the field against long Eaton United a week ago.
It did look as thought things may turn against them however when on 14 minutes Joshua Nichol capitalised on a neat bit of wing play to tap home for the opener. Not to be outdone though and with the lion’s share of possession turning their way Craig Muirhead for his first of a brace just three minutes later to restore parity.
All even at the break Rangers went into the second period pressing for the winner. With some tasty tackles fly in Bottesford lost their cool in periods and where eventually out done by Muirhead’s second strike from Range.
After the game and with Ricardo absent Assistant Manager Billy Gill was delighted with the sides performance “ top performance from the lads today, they gave it their all and got their just desserts” said Gill “we will take this now into the first game and I’m sure it will galvanise us into getting points on the board”
Rangers will start their league campaign at Haworth Park next Saturday when they will invite Glasshoughton Welfare to Haworth Park. Kick off will be 3pm.
