Rangers Get First Win

Hall Road Rangers finally got their just desserts on Tuesday evening as they travelled the long distance to Knaresbrough Town coming away with a hard fought 1-0 win. Before the game Assistant manager Karl Atkin had asked for a solid 90 minutes of consistent football from his lads and that is exactly what he got.
“Great to get our first win tonight” said Atkin “the lads worked perfectly to the game plan and it was very pleasing to see them play for the full 90 mins.”

“We had to make a number of changes due to losing 5 players to injury following Saturday’s game but the lads who came in didn't let me down one bit”

After a goalless first half and with the rain starting to fall it took some brilliant wing play from Tom Bennett to perfectly cross in to the willing head of forward Danny Walker. The only goal on 58 minutes secured all three points for Rangers and ensured the first win of the season.

Rangers rode their luck at times and came through a Knaresbrough penalty appeal unscathed. Jordan Douglas also stood strong and kept a clean sheet, the first of the season.

Atkin also had praise for his youngsters “A special mention goes to Tate Dean who made his first start for the first team of the season coming in from the under 19's” “ He was superb didn't look out of place, he has a very bright future in front of him.”

“The lads really deserve this win but are fully aware it's only three points and we must now kick on and we go again Saturday. Overall a very pleasing away performance.”

Rangers will now travel to Glasshoughton Welfare on Saturday looking to continue the solid performances. Kick off will be 3pm at Leeds Road.
