Deserved 1-1 Draw

Hall Road Rangers played out a thrilling 1-1 draw on Tuesday night with play off hopefuls Knaresbrough Town at Haworth Park. After the goal fest which was the previous 6-3 encounter with Grimsby Borough Manager Martin Thacker was looking for a more controlled and professional stance to the encounter. He wasn’t disappointed.
Knaresbrough sat in 9th spot before the game just three points outside of the play off places and with everything to play for. Despite this is was Rangers who dominated the first half having the lions share of the possessions and the crop of the chances. Their closest came from a Ben Kinsley free kick that rattled the cross bar.
Contentious decisions where aplenty and referee David Jones suffered the wrath of both dugouts as he appeared to make questionable decisions.
With both teams locked in stalemate at the break it was eventually down to Jordan Harrisson to break the deadlock on 57 minutes after he was brought down in the box. He dispatched the resulting spot kick with aplomb to put the home side in the lead.
Knaresbrough fought back though and with ten minutes to go eventually drew level through Will Lenaham. After the game Manager Martin Thacker was pleased with his sides performance
“Really good team performance today and I don't just mean the players, for the club to get the game on was a credit to how far we have come as a club, big thank you to everyone who helped get the game on, you know who you are.”
“The game itself was very good for 70 minutes, we got a suspect penalty and conceded with 10 to go as Knaresbrough push to stay in the play offs. I thought first half we were much the better team without making the crucial opening, we got a lucky break with the penalty but just couldn't hold on for the three points.”
“Every other team pipes up about playing this player and that player so tonight ill mention we had three 18 year olds starting and one player making his 1st home start.”
“Taking that and the amount of games we have to play it's a credit to every player not just the young lads or a debutant that we can play to that level tonight.”
“Knaresbrough are a tough team to compete against but we stood up to every battle I don't think they expect that from us it's just a shame we can't get to them levels every Tuesday and Saturday.
The referee had a troubled night tonight, for both teams, over ruling the lineswomen almost every time she made a call.”
“The next four games are big for us, we have an in house target and we are very close to it now, hopefully we can get to that target against Westella in the next two games, hopefully the friendships will be put aside and we have a right go at each other, making for a couple of good games”
Rangers will next invite Westella VIP to Haworth Park on Thursday evening before the return leg on Saturday. Kick off will be 7:45 Pm at Haworth on Thursday.
