Hall Road Rangers Reserves got their new Humber Premier League Campaign up and running today with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Westella and Willerby. Having already achieved their aim of having three players having first team experience this season already the Rangers management team and a very youthful squad set out on their Humber Premier Div 1 adventure. Hilltop the venue and Westella and Willerby the opponents, but unfortunately missing probably five lads that could be contenders in a starting 11 they set about their season. High winds played a major part in the game but looking composed into the wind they could feel a little hard done by when it was only a scrambled goal that gave the home side the lead at half time. For the second half the pattern of play was moved to Hall Road and not wishing to use the wind the quality was showing through but lacking that killer instinct in the final third. A second goal from a softly given free kick sealed all points for the home side. A game with little quality from the more experienced Westella side gave the youthful Rangers optimism for future games. A little naive in certain situations and a bit of inexperience was their undoing but nothing greatly to worry about. The Reserves will now face Hornsea Town at Haworth Park next Saturday. Kick off will be 2pm.
