Hard training that pays off in the end through the superior condition of the Exiles team in the game against the very young appearing 2nd team of St. Pauli.
The weather once again played along, as you would expect in Hamburg. The Exiles were motivated but a little bit nervous in the first half. They scored 2 tries and a penalty to take a 15 to 00 lead into halftime, but happy faces looked different. A lot of knock ons and unforced errors dominated the game on both sides in the first half.
This was to change after the coach's half-time talk. One should not play against oneself. They took it seriously and the game picked up speed with beautiful tries by the team as well as by smaller individual actions that grabbed the opponent's mistakes by the scruff of the neck. In the end, faces were beaming and the score would be 55-10, and the revenge for the narrow defeat in the previous second round against the arch-rivals was perfect.
