Coming back to our Summer Tour last weekend and the game against our Friends from Den Helder Rugby Club in the Netherlands, which was played under a bright sun (and a strong breeze powered by the proximity to the North Sea).
The game started with an intense battle close to the Dutch try line. The Exiles pack dominated the scrums but lacked of pragmatism to convert the first scoring opportunities of the game, against a very fierce red-and-yellow defensive line. A first converted try for Den Helder, followed by another one (not converted this time) concluded the first halftime (12-0).
In the second half, and this time while facing the wind, the Exiles started to increase the quality of their game. Spotting a gap in the Dutch defence, Nik (9) scored, out of a quickly played ruck (12-05). The match remained exciting until the final minutes, until Sexy (14) scored the Exiles second try after a brilliant 40m run. An unlucky conversion attempt gave the final word to Den Helder (12-10)
Thanks to RC Den Helder for making our summer Tour a success! The Exiles now look forward to the summer training and to preparing the next season. Stay tuned!
