YOUNG Hampton prospect Joe Wotton is still pinching himself after being invited for trials with La Liga side Real Mallorca.
Joe, 17, who has featured several times this pre-season for Gary McCann’s first team, is heading to the Spanish holiday island to show his worth with Real’s Under-19 squad.
He will be at Mallorca’s base from July 30 to August 9 and goes with the blessing of Gary and Academy Manager Steve Bates, who view it as a great honour for the player and the club.
Midfielder Joe is a student at the HRBFC Academy, based here at the Jezzards Beveree, and has been a stand-out performer for the Under-18 side. He is now on National League forms, too.
Joe, who lives just a mile from the ground, said: “It will be a great experience to sample the different cultures in life and football over there.
“It’s also a very exciting time for Real as they have just been promoted to the top division in La Liga.
“I feel confident of taking on the challenge after a year in the HRBFC Academy and gaining experience with the senior team.”
