SKIPPER Luke Ruddick and vice-captain Shaun McAuley trained on Thursday evening and are ready to make a belated start to the season for the Beavers.
Both of them missed the first two games with calf injuries but are available for selection at home to Hemel Hempstead this Saturday.
One player who will not be in the squad, however, is striker James Ewington, who has announced he will be looking for another club, probably at a level below National League South.
Gary said: “It’s disappointing after such a short time with us. He said he could not give the commitment to play at this level, which is a shame as he did well in pre-season. However, we respect the decision and wish him well for the rest of the season.”
Ewington, who joined us from Walton Casuals in the close season, played at Chelmsford City last Saturday in our opening game but was replaced in attack on Tuesday by Danilo Orsi-Dadomo, who scored twice.
Following the tragic and untimely death of Justin Edinburgh the Board of the National League discussed at its meeting last month that as a league it was felt only right and fitting that collectively we would want to do something in his memory.
Justin’s family have set up a Foundation in his honour, the Justin Edinburgh 3 Foundation. The Foundation will be focusing on raising awareness of brain and heart disease and promoting the use of defibrillators in health clubs and gyms.
This Saturday, there will be a collection at the Beveree as we show our support for the work of the Foundation.
Every club in the three divisions will be making a contribution to the cause, Phil Weller and his team will be shaking the buckets this weekend for the Beavers so please give as generously as you can.
