"Firstly, I'd like to say a big thank you to Steve Holmes for his kind words in the club statement. I can honestly say that I leave Handsworth with a very heavy heart as the club means everything to me, but sometimes you have to make difficult decisions, and the chance to hopefully prolong my playing career and Manage in the Evo-Stik East was too good an opportunity to turn down.

I hope everyone will remember my time with The Ambers positively, as I certainly do. Whether it was as player, Captain or Interim Manager, I always gave it my all and feel I can leave with my head held high.

I was always proud to wear the amber and black and to leave as the clubs leading goal scorer of all time fills me with pride.

I need to say a few thank you's before I go, starting with Pete Whitehead who made the decision to bring me in and didn't make it difficult when I made him aware of Mansfield's approach, to Steve Holmes and John Ward for their help and guidance, to our other volunteers John Stainrod, Max Ross, Ian Robinson, and Ken & Sheila Allsebrook for their friendship and support, to Dave Doherty for getting me back to fitness after a few injuries, and to the other lads who I shared the bench with, Steve Istead and Steve Smith.

I'd also like to thank our fans who got behind us week in, week out, and finally, to all the lads who I played alongside or who played for me, thank you so much for your efforts.

I also wish to put on record my thoughts regarding the young lads coming through the ranks at Handsworth, of whom there are many. I hope they flourish under the excellent management throughout the club and it would be great to see more of them earn the opportunity to play for the first team and to stick around rather than finding other clubs.

I will always keep an eye on Handsworth's results, and who knows, one day I may get the opportunity to return to this special club in some capacity. I wish you all the very best of luck for the future. Up The Ambers!"
