The Ambers made it two wins in a week with another emphatic 4-0 score line, thanks mainly to a stunning second half performance.

The Ambers, who beat Frechville on Tuesday, kept the winning momentum going with a good win against strong opponents.

The game started scrappy with both sides struggling to keep hold of the ball. The first attempt came from the visitors. A corner whipped in found Curtly-Martin Wyatt at the back post and his header went inches wide.

This was a wake-up call for the ambers, who really kicked on after the earlier scare. On 22 minutes, great football between Whittington and Burrell lead to Burrell forcing the keeper into a smart save. Whittington himself then went close himself, a volley from the edge of the box that went agonisingly wide. 0-0 at half time.

The game sparked into life in the second half with immediate goal mouth action. The visitors forced Sneath into great save early on as Nick Black’s header forced the ambers keeper into a reaction save. And a minute later, the deadlock was broken. Critchlow dispossessed his opponent on the edge of the Garforth area and played a great reverse ball to Whittington who smashed the ball past the keeper. 1-0.

After this, the Ambers were firmly on top and playing good football right through the team. And on 63 the task became much harder for the visiting team as Jason Davis was sent off for an off the ball incident.

The chances came regularly after this with Burrell and Whittington both forcing the visiting keeper Ben Hunter in smart saves. And on 76 minutes, Whittington beat the Garforth keeper for the second time of the game, this time there was nothing the keeper could’ve done, as Whittington lashed the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box. The keeper was a spectator to what was a great strike.

And on 83 minutes, the game was put to bed thanks to great link up play by substitute Vill Powell and Sam Smith, with the latter finishing comfortably to extend his goal scoring start to the season. His 14th of the campaign.

And 2 minutes later, it was 4. Powell again with the assist, this time beating his man and crossing to the back post where an onrushing Maxfield used sublime technique to volley the ball into the top corner. 4-0.

The game finished 4-0, and a satisfying result for the Ambers, one that will fill them with great confidence.
