In Form Heanor Town Visted Sandy Lane on Tuesday Night....

Peter Duffield made a couple of changes from the side that beat Garforth Town 1-0 at the weekend with debutant David Radcliffe coming in for the rested Archie Sneath and Regan Edridge coming in for the unavailable Greg Wright.

Heanor visited us in great form with 5 wins and draw from their last 6 games and topped the leagues form table.

The game started at a reasonable tempo with the Ambers clearly pressing at a high tempo all over the pitch, the 1st chance of the game fell to Heanor's Nick Hall whose free header from a corner went high and over.

The Ambers 1st chance of the game came on 9 minutes when Alex Rippon's downward header from Buttle's cross was well saved by Deakin.

Adams & Lawrence were looking assured at the back for the Ambers , with the midfield 4 in front of them more than matching their opponents physically.

Buttle was getting plenty of joy down the left and Rippon and Joynes were showing early signs of the link up play that impressed at Garforth.

On 12 minutes Rippon showed great strength as he held the ball up under pressure from Shaw...turned but his surging run was well defended by the experienced Left back.

Rippon's work ethic created a chance for strike partner Joynes , whose near post effort was gathered by Deakin.

Debrouwer & Jones linked well and with Jones bearing down on goal, the on rushing Radcliffe got enough on the ball to sniff out a dangerous moment amidst very loud penalty appeal claims that were waved away.

Heanor were building up a good head of steam and Tootle showed his pace with great covering to ease the pressure for the Ambers, Edridge was then called upon and showed great composure under threat from Jones to clear the danger by the tricky front man.

The Ambers probed down the left and Buttle's cross was well met by Nathan Joynes and his goal bound effort was turned in to the net with a back heal inside the 6 yard box by Alex Rippon with Deakin stranded, Rippon's 2nd goal is his 2nd start for the 1st team.

20 Mins 1-0 to the Ambers (Rippon)

Heanor went a little more direct and Adams was on hand to calmly bring down and clear a probing long ball from the visitors.

Heanor's Cooper "skyed" a good chance on 27 from 20 yards out, this led to a period of sustained pressure by the visitors which the Ambers dealt with.

Joynes was impressing up top and was inches away from opening his account for the night when a good turn and shot went marginally over the bar.

The half came to end with the Ambers in control of possession and the tempo , Heanor's frustration was compounded when Jones got a Yellow for a high kick on Gaz Davies.

A good 1st half from the Ambers who led a good outfit 1-0 at Half Time.

The 1st real action of the 2nd half came on 50 minutes when the Ref gave a lengthy talking to the impressive Juiian Lawrence for a strong challenge on half way.

The industrious Marrison carved a good chance out for Rippon whose cross come shot was well saved by Deakin.

Debrouwer was coming more into the game and drifted centrally and saw his well struck drive go just wide, Booth also saw a fine half volley fizz past the far post and Jones has a well struck long range Free kick well saved by the Radcliffe, the Ambers defending well and Heanor were restricted to long range efforts.

On 59 Joynes muscled himself away from his marker, released the onrushing Tootle whose good ball in was met by Davies whose well hit shot was deflected for a corner, The Ambers now showing real zest in possession.

Luke Fletcher was having a strong powerful game and another surging run from the midfielder saw a cynical foul by Booth , the Heanor man got a lecture from the Ref, just after Booth was replaced by Hawes for the visitors.

The Ambers were in the ascendency with both Full backs and the wide men pushing high up the park, from a dangerous Ambers Corner Marrision was booked for a pull on Gregory.

Debrouwer's trickery was sniffed out by Tootle whose fine ball was held up well by Joynes but the ref adjudged that the forward had fouled Gregory....the 2 players then saw Yellow after the linesman alerted the ref to a little bit of hand bags at dawn.

The Ambers made a couple of substitutions with the Impressive pair of Rippon & Buttle being replaced by Steve Woolley & Sam Smith.

Immediately Woolley began to control possession and linked up well with Tootle , to fashion a great ball that was inches away from Sam Smith's far post run, a great flowing move , Heanor were on the back foot.

On 81 minutes the 2 Subs linked up really well as the Ambers doubled their lead with classy goal that was really well finished by Sam Smith from 18 yards fro his 27th goal of the season.

81 Min 2-0 Ambers (Smith)

Cal Harrison replaced Nathan Joynes on 87.

The Ambers now had Heanor on the back foot and Smith's powerful run nearly produced a 3rd for the Ambers, he rounded the keeper and couldn't get his shot away.

Heanor rallied in injury time and brought 2 good saves from Radcliffe ...there was time for skipper Davies to see yellow before the ref blew for Fulltime.

The Ambers taking all 3 points in an impressive performance , in a game that was played in a good spirit, The Ambers looked physically stronger and sharper than the very good Heanor side, an excellent performance from every member of the squad in high tempo performance from Peter Duffield's men.
