The ambers managed to claim all three points without being on top form. The ambers started shaky with the visitors starting on the front foot with corners in succession that put the ambers under pressure.
The ambers then went close with a free kick on 18 minutes but didn’t trouble the keeper.
The visitors then took the lead. A cross come shot from Scragill wasn’t dealt with by Lindley and found the bottom corner. 0-1.
But it took only 3 minutes for the ambers to level the score up. A cross came in and was headed down by Smith and was cleverly directed goal wards by Holden into the roof of the net. A great piece of improvisation by the inform striker. All square.
Tootle then whipped a fine ball in but it was inches away from Smith and Holden. The amber were getting on top at the half time mark.
The second half began with the ambers on top again, with the first chance going to Smith who’s volley went just wide of the post.
There were few chances created after half time until the eventual winning goal that came in the 66th minute. Fletcher with the assist as he stood the ball up at the back post to Woolley who superbly volleyed the ball left-footed into the far corner. A great finish by the ambers captain. 2-1.
There were no chances after the goal as the ambers kept it tight and held out for the victory. A good three points.
