Hanley Town 0: Kidsgrove Athletic 2:
After a few stern words by manager Peter Ward, the second half opened with Hanley Town on the front foot and in a more determined mood. Hanley Town winger Trevor Russell began to cause the Kidsgrove Athletic's defence problems and Steve Goodwin was getting more into the match.
After a number of near misses Hanley Town pulled a deserved goal back on 75 minutes when substitute Ray Notice went past two defenders and rifled an unstoppable shot from 25yards into the roof of the net.
Hanley Town were now pressing for an equaliser and with five minutes left a run and cross down the left hand side into the Kidsgrove Athletic box where Trevor Russell was on hand to steer home the equaliser.
In the final minute Steve Goodwin had an excellent opportunity to win the game for Hanley Town but a superb save by Kidsgrove Athetic keeper Mark Gibbs denied the Hanley Town striker.
