Haringey beat Hanwell

After much confusion on the oppositions part, they finally managed to secure a pitch for the game to be played on and as pitches go it was not half bad. The grass glistened under the lights and was cut close, like a fresh fade, an immaculate surface. This did not make much of a difference to the kicking conditions though as extremely strong winds swirled around for the entire game.

After a truncated warm up, the Rhinos came out firing, and stood strong with some impenetrable defence. After a period of defending for more than 10 minutes, scrum half Zatorski got a turnover that allowed the Rhinos to clear their lines and after the resultant lineout they finally got their foothold in the game and started putting the phases together. It was well controlled but the final pass seemed to evade them. The opposition committing many desperate high tackles in an attempt to bring charging Rhinos down. After some hard work with 14 men after full back Lewis Austin was sent to the bin, the Rhinos found themselves knocking on the door and centre Michael Monteiro Mudresh found himself at the base of the ruck and he chose to ignore the seven-on-two overlap and charged for the line himself managing to dot down left of the posts. The conversion from a spot Rowan Cole could normally knock over in his sleep looked good until the howling winds dragged it just wide at the last second. The score now 5-0, and would remain as such for the rest of the half.

Buoyed by their strong first half the Rhinos came out of the gates firing and continued to apply the pressure, not long after Aiden Keenan Morrison got in in the corner. Conversion was missed, an almost impossible kick in the conditions. Aiden would go on to cross the line again not long after, but was adjuged to have knocked on over the line, despite TMO Sherr's photographic evidence to the contrary. Haringey were fired up after the decision and absolutely obliterated the scrum, winning it against the head and pushing the scrum over the line as it disintegrated, Aiden dotting down once more, this time they were adjudged to have been held up, a baffling call from the ref. After a few minutes though, they finally got the try they deserved when Rowan Cole got in, and got the only conversion of the day, from both sides.

The score now 17-0 Haringey turned the screw, and even though they got two consolation scores after Haringey went down to 14 for the last 15 or so minutes due to cards, they never looked like they were a threat to win the game. Strong performances across the park, great fire off the bench, and a great all around team performance.
