Nick Argent pleased to remain in post. Much still to be achieved

Following our meeting on Monday night I am delighted to report that Nick Argent is keen to continue as the Club Coach for next season. We had a relaxed but wide ranging discussion about how the season had gone so far, our expectations for the last three league matches and our ambitions for next year.

After three losing seasons and two relegations we asked Nick this season to ensure some stability and evidence of progression and improvement. This I think those who have followed the 1stxv across the season would agree he has achieved with the last two performances especially encouraging. There is no doubt that he has helped to get the guys playing for the shirt and despite some setbacks along the way they are enjoying their rugby. We also have the opportunity for the first time in four seasons, if we win our last matches, to finish with a winning season so there is still much to play for especially if we are looking to make a statement about our ambitions for next year.

Nick has reiterated that one of his major ambitions going forward is to get the Lions out consistently and this we support whole heartedly. The club will do what it can to help him with this. Matt Henry has volunteered to manage the team which in itself is a significant development. We just need to find the players to make this happen.

For next season I have asked Nick to build on what he has achieved so far and put us in a position at least to challenge for promotion.

Nick is up for the challenge. He is Harrow man and we can ask for no more. I hope you all will continue to support both him and the team as we move on

There are no guarantees but if we play like we did on Saturday with that level of intensity and quality and the players commit across the whole season then there will be many good days ahead
