Taking a Sunday off from coaching our U13 squad Andy and Matt both ran the Essex Marathon and raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Originally planning to run in Finland, they switched to Essex at the last minute as Covid restrictions prevented them from their original plan.

It sounds like quite a tough event but both put in excellent times.
As Matt said " 6 laps of a disused airfield with no spectators was a struggle at times but Andy showed his long distance experience finishing in 3:28:43 and I got cramp with 3.5 miles to go which lead to some walking, but very happy with first marathon attempt to finish in 3:40:54. "

Their efforts have so far raised £887 for such a good cause. Great effort lads and well done from all at the club!
