A great performance by Harrow with good defence and attack and excellent kicking from Center Arron Lewis.

Harrows first game of the year was against league leaders Hendon. The start of the game didn’t go our way and after 2 minutes we were 7 points down after Hendon had won the ball from the kick off and determinedly moved the ball up the field scoring a converted try.
It looked as though Harrow where in for long afternoon, but unlike some of the games we played earlier in the season, we showed we were not going to be easily rolled over.

Great defence by Harrow was turned in to good attack and Hendon started to give away penalties to keep us out. This led to two very well taken penalties scored by centre Aaron Lewis and a score line of 6 points to 7.

Harrow carried on attacking and despite the very wet conditions we moved the ball confidently to the Hendon 5 meter line. The subsequent attack saw flanker James Robertson diving over from close range to take the score line to 11 points to 7.

Hendon took their turn attack and despite some excellent defence Harrow gave away a penalty just before half time which Hendon kicked leading to a score of 11 points to 10.

Harrow came back strongly in the 2nd half and despite losing Jeremy Itoje and Mark Gibson early on, we were able to continue to attack. Arron continued to kick excellently and Harrow scored another 3 penalties to take the score to 17 points to 10.
Hendon now took their turn at attacking and scored a penalty of there own taking the score to 17 points to 13 with just a few minutes to go.
Hendon continued to attack and despite some excellent defence, Harrow couldn’t keep Hendon out and in the last play of the match they scored a converted try.

Despite the draw, Harrow played some of their best rugby of the season and whilst the 20 all score line was probably a fair result it was a game Harrow could easily have one. This game shows how well Harrow have developed since they played Hendon earlier in the season. The new coaching structure is working very well and there is a great team spirit and determination running throughout the whole squad.

So a very good start to the 2nd half of the season and a lot to look forward to in the games to come, with the next one being away to Hitchin this Saturday 15th Jan, kick off at 2pm. We have had great support this season and hope to see you at the next match as this is making a difference as well.
