A good squad of 17 assembled in Bushy Park for our 1st championship match and the boys were put through a joint warm up with Teddington before the 15 min each half match
We started brilliantly with Brady catching the kick off and for the first 5 mins dominated the game - in fact Teddington never touched the ball during this period. It was no surprise that we got the 1st try of the game with Max D charging over after good work from Ed B and Luke K. Brady converted.
Teddington scored just before HT with their first period of pressure. Their conversion was missed and we went in at HT leading 7-5.
We started strongly in the second half and Harry intercepted as Teddington tried to use their line and he ran through to score and followed up with the conversion. Two Teddington knock ons were not penalized and during this phase they scored their 2nd try which was successfully converted.
Harry stole the ball in his own half and once again ran through to look like putting us in total command but the official had pulled it back for an apparent knock on. We were still leading with a few minutes to go, however two late tries from Teddington turned the game against us.
The coaches were delighted for the 2nd week running with the boys attitude, commitment and improving game. On another day this result could easily have gone in our favour.
A new match ball was awarded for the player with the best commitment. This was deservedly won by Soham
Well done boys. A magnificent effort today
