Harrow RFC 'B' Team vs Hammersmith 'B' Team - Middlesex Festival

An early start on Mothering Sunday (or is it Mothers' Day - but that's another debate!) saw us away at Wasps for the Middlesex U9s Festival. We put forward two teams in the B and Development Leagues, although a few players pulled out after we had submitted the team requests, which meant that one or two of those that did turn up had to play in both teams (a heroic effort by both Max G and Jamie - thank you both for your sterling work). It is important that everyone who says they can come to the festivals turns up so that we have the right number of teams entered (notwithstanding illness of course!).

Anyway, I think that all the coaches would agree that the players really stepped up to the plate this week, with some cracking performances by everyone. The tackling was superb at the beginning, although it became a little laboured as the day wore on (it was a long day though), however the running lines and off-loads were fabulous and a joy to watch, and the enthusiasm for the game lasted all day. In the end, the B Team played in the semi-final of the Bowl, losing to Wasps 2-1 in a tightly fought contest, whilst the Development team won the Bowl in their competition. Well done to both teams though - a great day's play and thoroughly enjoyable.

Whilst we did award two Player of the Tournaments, I think that all of the Players should be congratulated on an excellent performance all round, with a special mention to Max G who played every game for both teams! Player of the Tournament went to:

Harrow vs Regents Park Royals: Lost 2:4 (Tries by Max G, Owen)

For the B team, Ollie M who was lightning around the pitch, broke numerous tackles, tackled like a demon himself, and generally played like a player possessed - he also scored 11 tries in total - amazing!

For the Development team, Kush who threw himself into everything and showed a new steel in his performance.
