Darron was recruited by former manager Dave Anderson and has also been an integral part of Steve Baker’s team.

Reflecting on reaching the decade landmark, Darron said, ‘I’ve fully enjoyed my time here and can’t believe it’s been ten years. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster. My time here started under Dave along with Jason Goodliffe, who I’ve both known for years, so when I got the call to ask if I wanted to come, it was something I was really interested in. I worked with Dave for 3 years until he moved on and when Steve, who I also knew from my Hayes days, got the job he wanted me to stay, whereas any of the other candidates would have probably brought in their own staff, so that worked out really well’.

With a smile he said, 'In terms of Dave and Steve, there's has been bit of a contrast. Dave didn't hold back and would tell you what he thought. You certainly knew where you stood with him, whereas Steve is a bit calmer and methodical. I think Steve is improving as a manager every year and has a massive future in football'.

‘The most memorable games over the ten years have to be in the FA Cup at Northampton and Portsmouth. We were, deservedly, well beaten at Northampton and, to be honest, the day passed us by a bit. But this year we were able to take it all in more and appreciate that those days don’t come along too often. We did ourselves a lot of credit on the pitch at Portsmouth, and off it, the financial side of the day helped the club for the next few years’.

'If it all finished tomorrow, I'd have no regrets. I've made some good friends here and seen some good players come through. The people who keep the club going, the VPs and supporters have all been fantastic and it's been a privilege to be a part of it'.

‘Looking ahead, who knows what will happen. I’m hopeful that a few of the younger players, like Samuel and Ahmet, have a bright future ahead of them further up the leagues, and it’s my job to help make them and others better players so they can progress to a higher level’.

‘Myself and the rest of the management team are currently enjoying the break but will be back in four or five weeks, and will be raring to go for the new season’.
