Ramsgate 0 Harrow Borough 2

Harrow extended their league unbeaten run to nine games with an efficient despatching of a Ramsgate side whose relegation was confirmed in the process.

Dewayne Clarke returned to the side after his suspension, re-establishing the successful front pairing with Gary Noel. On a bumpy pitch, each side had an early opening, Jonathan Constant shooting over for Harrow, and Tsangarides doing the same for Ramsgate. Constant then swung a dangerous free-kick across the home goalmouth after a nasty foul by Walder on Ryan Watts, which went otherwise unpunished by the referee. Lee Hall cut in from the left to fire a right-footer across the goal. Tsangarides was then stopped by a firm challenge by Tobi Jinadu with the otherwise steady Richard Wilmot out of position.

Wilmot then saved Davis’s far post header, and Ball shot wide, but Harrow began to realise that Ramsgate had little in their armoury aside from long balls down the middle and long throws, and started to take charge. Home keeper Turner dropped the ball at Wayne Walters’ feet, but the Borough skipper seemed to be taken by surprise and the chance disappeared. After 21 minutes Harrow took the lead. Fraser and Constant combined to send Noel clear of the defence and he steadied himself on the bumpy surface before firing past Turner, his 10th league goal for Harrow, a terrific rate having only made his debut in December.

Wilmot saved at Ball’s feet after the home striker held off Jinadu, but Harrow ended the half with a Noel turn and cross, blocked, a Clarke shot over the bar, and a Constant shot that was too close to Turner.

As the second period began, Clarke flicked on Constant’s long throw to Noel, who turned sharply but had his effort blocked. Clarke then chested down a through ball but drove over when well placed. Walters met a Constant corner with a downward header that was cleared, and Graham had to hack clear after another Clarke flick header. A rare home attack saw Danny Leech get his head in the way of Graham’s shot, but Harrow looked comfortable, and Constant had a shot blocked and Noel drove across goal. Clarke’s shot was saved by Turner at his near post but in the 80th minute, Noel sent Clarke away and he chested the ball under control and fired home the second goal.

Turner saved well from Fraser, and substitute Kurt Morlese shot wide when he ought to have added a late third.
