The event takes place at Mayfield Park on Monday 16th March 7pm and underscores the club's commitment to player welfare and community wellbeing, recognising the critical intersection between sport and mental health.
The workshop will be led by Mark McGuigan, an experienced occupational therapist and mental health practitioner who specialises in supporting athletes.
Through his work at Willow Grove Consultants and as a Player Care Consultant, McGuigan brings a wealth of knowledge in managing mental health within the sports industry, including developing structured support pathways for individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression and occupational deprivation following injury.
Mark has worked with elite athletes from Newcastle Red Bulls, Newcastle Eagles and several top flight football clubs in the both the men's and women's game.
"This is about equipping our players, members and community with the tools to understand and manage mental fitness, both on and off the field," said Liam Lester, Director of Rugby.
"Bringing in an expert of Mark's calibre highlights our dedication to tackling the stigma surrounding mental health and ensuring our members know that support is here at their club.
"He's done fantastic work with Newcastle Red Bulls Academy which was attended by some of our club coaches and he comes highly recommended."
The session will draw on McGuigan's extensive background in occupational therapy, offering
attendees insights into maintaining balance and structure.
His holistic approach focuses on practical strategies for wellbeing, making this an invaluable session for players, coaches and members of the public.
Hartlepool Rugby Club has long served as a vital hub for community connection, with stories of individuals finding solace and support from anxiety through the camaraderie of the sport.
