A true pioneer who helped lay the foundations for Hartlepool Ladies back in the mid-90s.
Well known as one of Britain’s leading orthopaedic surgeons and doctor for our neighbours West Hartlepool Rugby Football Club, Mrs Lennox somehow found the time, energy and unwavering commitment to support the team in every way imaginable.
From acting as team doctor and chauffeur to being a silent sponsor - and even pulling on a shirt herself when numbers were short - her dedication knew no bounds.
After long hospital shifts, she’d drive her daughter Jane and her teammates to training without hesitation.
Her vision and determination, in an era when women’s rugby was often met with a lot of scepticism, helped ensure Hartlepool Ladies not only grew - but thrived.
Thanks in large part to her dedication, here we are nearly 30 years on.
A truly special moment came as Mrs Lennox received her award on the same night her daughter Jane was presented with her club honours cap – a fitting tribute to a legacy built on passion, resilience and belief.
Thank you, Mrs Lennox
