Hartlepool are set to welcome Sunderland to Mayfield Park in the second round of league matches tomorrow (3pm KO).

Pool nearly pulled off a memorable comeback against Ponteland last time out but in the end had to settle for a losing bonus point.

Finding themselves 21-0 down at half time, the visitors fought hard to score 17 unanswered points but were just beaten by the clock.

This Saturday they will be hoping to pick up their first league win of the season but as always Sunderland will provide staunch opposition.

They enjoyed a 29-28 win over last season's Durham Northumberland 2 champions Guisborough on Wearside.

Unfortunately Graham Wilson, Aaron Jeffery and Zach Pounder suffered medium to long term injuries against the Northumbrians. We would like to wish them all a speedy recovery.

There are two changes in the front row with Martyn Howard coming in at loosehead and John Osborne at tighthead.

Tom Johnson's name is a welcome sight on the team sheet and he will partner 18 year old Harry Watts in the second row.

Jon Carney and Max Filby continue at 7 and 8 respectively, with last season's Academy & Durham County U18 captain Tom Campbell packing down on the blindside.

Tazz Pelser and Ben Clarke continue their fledgling half back partnership. The only change in the backs sees speedster Connor Morris come in for his debut to replace last week's try scorer Owen Samuel on the wing.

Mainstay of the side Keagen Thomas returns to the squad and takes up a spot among the replacements alongside Stephen Cole and Kieran Watson.

Hartlepool A entertain Darlington Bulls at home in a friendly (3pm KO) and can call upon a healthy squad having only travelled to Bishop Auckland with 16 last time out.

They almost completed the job following a gutsy display but narrowly lost out 19-15.

It is Reunion Day so it would be great to see plenty of old faces coming along to join us for a catch up.
