A trip north to Whitley Bay awaits as Pool bid for a change in fortunes.

The Westoe victory aside, three of the last four results have not been pretty from a Hartlepool point of view culminating in last Saturday's 8-64 loss at the hands of league leaders Guisborough.

It's been a tough period for the side that has coincided with an ever growing injury list.

However, rather than dwelling on that Andy Wray's men must look at each Saturday as the next opportunity to regain that early season form.

Pool are boosted by the return of talismanic scrum half Tazz Pelser and captain Jon Carney, who both missed the visit of Guisborough.

Carney reclaims the number 7 shirt and packs down alongside powerful number 8 Jamie Yorke, who is set to make his first team debut for the club having transferred from Seaton Carew in November.

Michael Smalley moves up from the bench to partner Harry Watts in the second row.

There is another centre partner for Luke Mclurg with Max Filby, who is home from university, taking the number 13 shirt.

Tyler Hall remains at full back, having switched there last week when Connor Morris pulled up in the warm up.

17 year old, Byron Taylor, is set for his full debut having been introduced from the bench in the victory over Westoe three weeks ago.

Kieran Watson, Joseph Hall and Shaun Strudwick will all be looking to make an impact when called upon.

A combination of injury, holiday and work commitments mean that Phil Stevenson, Stephen Cole, Rob Baldwin and Keagen Thomas are all unavailable for the visitors this week.
