Prior to the game , a busy Mayfield Park fell silent as players and spectators , paid respects to member and former player Steve ‘Nogger’ Norris, who recently passed away.

In an entertaining start to the game both sides tried to exert control however it was the visitors "live wire" scrum half who created the first opportunity by jinking his way through the pool defence to created an opening for the winger who duly finished under the posts for the opening try of the afternoon .0-7.

Five minutes later , a great team try by Bishop's, saw several phases of attacking play with the backs and forwards linking up which resulted in try number two for the right winger . 0-12.

25 minutes on the clock and Bishops scored a deserved third try, the scrum half who was an attacking threat all afternoon, took a quick penalty to catch pool napping and he accelerated away to score under the posts . 0-19.

Pool finally started to create some pressure and as the home side were starting to get on top in the forwards encounters, Bishop forwards were penalised four times in quick succession which resulted in the away centre being yellow carded .

Pool captain Jon Carney then selected a scrum and Phil Stevenson picked up from the base of the scrum driving towards the line , however great defence stopped him on the white wash , Tom Johnson was on hand to touch down . Ben Clarke converted the try to reduce the lead 7-19.

On the stroke of half time , Pool were awarded another penalty which was quickly taken by Taz Pelser , who immediately feed Tom Johnson who then exploited a gap in the Bishop defence, Taz was in support to receive the return pass to score under the posts . Pools stand off , Ben Clarke conversion moved Pool to within 5 points of the visitors . 14-19

Pool started the 2nd half in the determined fashion and five minutes into the second period, centre Max Filby powered over from 22 metres to score under the sticks . Ben Clarke conversion was struck well and Pool took the lead for the first time 21-19.

Pool were now well on top, another penalty was awarded to the home side and instead of kicking the easy three points , a scrum was chosen and Johnson again caused problems with his direct running, the forwards then recycled the ball before the ball was passed wide for Max Filby to score his second try and Pool's fourth try . 26-19.

Bishop stand off was yellow carded for slowing down the ball at the breakdown and Ben Clarke increased the lead with a well taken penalty 29-19.

With 5 minutes to go , sub Danny Weatherill scored with his first touch when the ball spilled out of the away scrum and Weatherill ran the ball in from 35 metres to cap a great Pool comeback. With Clarke on fire with the kicking , the game finished 36-19.

Steve ‘Nogger’ Norris would have certainly enjoyed the comeback and victory which moves Pool up to 7th place .

The final league game is away to second placed Sunderland on the 6th April.
