The home side entertained Ryton, looking to avenge November's 43 - 13 defeat.
In the first half, the home team initially struggled with visitors hitting the post with a well struck penalty but managed to score first when stand off Ryan Foreman executed a clever kick that winger Tyler Hall skilfully caught, evading the last defender to score, putting Pool ahead 5-0.
Shortly after, a lineout catch by Liam Pape saw Olly Hamilton feed the backs and centre Harry Mayes broke through the defence and then showed great pace to round the winger to score the second try, which was converted by Lewis Wilson, extending Pool's lead to 12-0.
However, Ryton responded strongly. After a lineout, the burly prop powered over from 15 meters for their first try of the afternoon, narrowing the gap to 12-5. The visitors then took advantage of a purple patch, with their centre sprinting 30 meters to score, flipping the score to 12-14 in their favour. A late penalty awarded to Pool allowed Lewis Wilson to slot the penalty, ending the first half with Pool leading 15-14.
The second half saw a flurry of penalties for both sides and the majority of the match was played out in the centre of the field. A Lewis Wilson penalty extended the lead to 4 points 18-14 . Ryton then took the lead for the first time with their prop scoring under the posts, making it 18-21 after a successful conversion.
As the game neared its conclusion, Pool pressed hard, with several attempts at the try line ultimately leading to Captain Jon Carney diving over for a try, regaining a slim lead at 23-21.
However, in a late twist to the game, Pool was penalized just before the final whistle, giving Ryton a chance to level the score. Fortunately for Pool, the penalty kick missed, and the match ended with them clinging to a narrow victory.
Pool now look ahead to their next game against Darlington in Friday's floodlit match at Mayfield Park, aiming to reduce the gap from their opponents, who currently sit in ninth place in the County 1 D&N standings.
