With promotion secured, Pool finished the season in style with a 42-10 win at Kingston Park.

Hartlepool made one change from the selected side with full back Adam Ainley unavailable so Dylan Thomas moved up from the bench and Dean Ryan selected at number 18 , made a welcome return after 2 months out with a broken finger.

Pool looked a little nervy in the opening minutes and after three minutes North Shields showed they were not their to make up the numbers and an attack on the blind side saw the number 14 scored in the corner. 5-0

The early try woke Pool up and they immediately took the game back to Shields, Andy Foreman took a quick penalty and passed to Tom Johnson who made 30 metres with a strong run, Shields were penalised for being off side and from the resultant penalty , Patrick Wilson kicked for the line out. Andy Small found Chris Begley and the ball was moved quickly along the backs and when centre Kegaen Thomas broke through, Shields were penalised for being off side and Patrick WILSON kicked the penalty to bring Pool back into the game.5-3

18 minutes on the clock and Pool went ahead for the first time, as Pool made their way up the pitch with a series of forwards drives, North Shields were struggling to contain the Pool mobile forwards and as Pool attacked 30 metres out, Shields were penalised for being off side and Patrick WILSON accurately kicked the penalty to give Pool the lead for the first time.6-5

As Pool started to take control of the game, Shields were reduced to 14 players after Andy Foreman chipped the ball through but was tackled without the ball.

27 minutes gone and with the referee playing advantage , winger Stephen Cole made a strong run beating his opposite number but as he looked to score in the corner a fine tackle bundled him into touch. .

5 minutes before the half time mark, Pool dominance was before rewarded with a fine try. The Pool forwards made 20 metres with a number of drives, Andy Foreman then released the backs, Andy Small joined the back line and his floated path give Steve COLE half a yard, he expertly took the chance, skipping past 2 players before scoring in the corner.11-5. Patrick Wilson conversion was dragged wide of the upright.

On the stroke of half time, Tom Johnson was causing mayhem with ball in hand and made 10 metres from a break at the base of the scrum, Patrick Wilson then made a superb reverse pass to Andy Palmer who was high tackled. WILSON 3rd penalty made in 14-5.

Second half , 43 minutes gone, Pool attacked and a sweeping move involved the backs and forward resulted in Ste COLE power past his winger score in corner. WILSON conversion give Pool a 21-5 lead.

Shields then came back into the game and there livewire stand off took a quick penalty and his kick over the top was caught by Tom Johnson and Pool then kicked long to clear the danger.

Pool then attacked from deep and Tom Johnson made yards but unfortunately confusion between the Johnson and Foreman saw the Shields number 12 catch the ball and break away, as the 12 tired, he passed to the stand off who's kick for the corner saw the number 11 to score wide out . The conversion struck the post. 21-10.

Pool immediately extended the lead, the Pool forwards attacked the blind side and took play 5 metres from the try line. Andy Foreman charged forward and cleverly flipped the ball to Johnson who was held up on the line. Foreman then passed to second row Andy PALMER who scored in front of the post. WILSON conversion moved the score ahead to 28-10. Bonus point.

With 4 minutes to go Pool secured the bonus point, the forwards caused havoc with some controlled drives, quick hands in the back saw then Andy SMALL dive over for the 4 try. WILSON conversion extended the lead to 25 points, 35-10..

On the stroke of full time, Tom Johnson picked up from the scrum, drew in the flanker before passing to Andy Foreman , Foreman then snipped towards the line and was tackled on the line, the direction of attack was then changed and Patrick Wilson dummied over from 5 metres to claim Pool's 5 try. His conversion give Pool a deserved 42-10 victory. Wilson bagged a personal total of 22 points with 1 try , 3 penalties and 4 conversions.
