Wasn’t the prettiest game for the Pool travelling supporters but a determined performance was produced to take all 5 points.

Due to a minor Covid outbreak , Pool were forced into making several changes to the team that last faced Darlington, with Graham Wilson, Liam Pape, colt Jayden Bates, Max Filby, Tyler Hall, Dylan Thomas, Ben Drewett and Rory Craig all coming into the squad.

The opening moments was a bit of a forwards arm wrestle with both sides looking to exert control.

After 25 minutes, a sweeping move saw the forwards take on and punch holes in the home defence , quick hands in the backs exploited the space and Harry Mayes put Tyler Hall away and the winger dived over in the corner to open the scoring. Lewis Wilson touch line conversion was just wide of the uprights.0-5.

Ten minutes later , Pool looked to double the advantage and strong runs from forwards Danny Cooper , Graham Wilson and Callum Whitehead created an opening and as Pool attacked the blind side however the final pass to Alex Winter was correctly brought back for a forward pass.

Just before the stroke of half time, Sedgefield had a scrum on the half way line and quick hands in the backs then saw a strong run from the centre saw him bounce off two tackles to score under the posts. 7-5 . A spate of hand bags saw, 2 Sedgefield players and Adam Ainley and Graham Wilson yellow carded.

In the 10 minute of injury time, Pool captain Adam Williamson showed "flight of feet" to make inroads into the home defence and Harry Mayes took on before passing to Tazz Pelser , the livewire scrum half still had a lot to do , however he beat two players before scoring under the posts for a great finish. Lewis Wilson made no mistake with the conversion and Pool led 12-7 at half time.

Second half, without a recognised line jumper , Pool struggled to secure clean line ball and the home side were also winning their fair share of possession so Pool decided to run the penalties in the opposition half and this ploy caused problems in Sedgefield's defence and three penalties in succession were awarded for break down offences, Pool attacked on the blind side and great defence kept the away side out however winger Alex Winter saw a gap in the defence to score from close quarters.

Fifteen minutes before the end , Pool secured the all important bonus point , Tazz made a darting break and linked well with Callum Whitehead to take the ball on with Max Filby in support, the ball was recycled and Alex Winter capped in a fine game with second try beating two defenders in a mazy run.

Sedgefield laid siege to the Pool line for the last 10 minutes and Ben Drewett and Adam Williamson were yellow carded for a series of team penalties however an excellent rear guard defence kept the Station Road side out.

Credit to the hosts who's performance bestowed their league position and their direct play made the game difficult for Pool throughout the afternoon. The changes to the Pool side disrupted their normal flow however the Pool 18 worked hard throughout and it was a real squad effort to churn out a win. The Pool stand out performer was Tazz Pelser who was a contstant threat at the breakdown and controlled the game throughout.

The win sees Pool remain in second place with Redcar the visitors to Mayfield Park this week.
