Match preview for AFC Phoenix

On Saturday we travel to Phoenix Sports & Social Ground to take on AFC Phoenix in Central Midlands Alliance action. As always, your support is greatly appreciated by everybody at the club. The address for the ground is Pavilion Lane, Brinsworth, Rotherham, S60 5PA. Kick-off is at 2PM.

We currently sit in fourth position in the league table, with 27 points after 11 matches. On Saturday 13th December we won 5-0 at home to Rossington Main Reserves, with Dec Heath scoring twice, and the other Colliery goals coming from Callum Edwards, Billy Stafford and Jordan Timmons.

On Tuesday 9th December we won 3-2 at home to Teversal in the second round of the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup, with Billy Stafford scoring twice, and the other Colliery goal coming from Rob Singer. On Saturday 29th November we lost 3-2 away at Brodsworth Main, with Cory Goodwin and Billy Stafford scoring.

On Saturday 22nd November we lost 6-5 on penalties away at Elite in the Second Round of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup, with the tie finishing 3-3 in normal time. Cory Goodwin, Rob Singer and Billy Stafford scored for Colliery. On Saturday 8th November we won 2-0 at home to SJR Worksop, with Callum Edwards and Billy Stafford scoring.

Our hosts currently sit in 11th position in the table, with 16 points from 16 matches. On Saturday they lost 3-0 away at Dinnington Town. On Saturday 20th December they lost 5-1 away at Elite. On Saturday 13th December they lost 3-1 at home to Burngreave United, with Cole Whitham scoring.

The two sides have previously met on 26 occasions, with Colliery winning 15, drawing four and losing seven of those meetings. The last time that the sides met was on Tuesday 12th August at the Jones & Co Recreational Ground, with Colliery winning 6-1. Callum Edwards and Rob Singer both scored twice, with Dec Heath and Billy Stafford getting the other Colliery goals. Jack Charlesworth scored for AFC Phoenix.

One to watch for our hosts will be Danny Fisher. So far this season he has scored six times in eight appearances.
