U11 Harriers start life in the second tier with a solid win

After an unstoppable September in NEHYL Division 2, the Harriers got life in Division 1 off to a great start with another dazzling performance against our visitors who'd made the long trip from Basingstoke.

The boys' confidence was obvious this week as they started brightly and never really looked like losing the game. The Harriers were attacking in waves from the off - the opposition almost seemed surprised by their energy and were 2-0 down before they really got going with fine finishes from Tom and Finlay. CSA pulled one back before the break but the Harriers replied straight away to go in 3-1 at half time.

CSA were much improved in the 2nd half but once again the Harriers back line were really impressive - Alistair, James and Charlie are so composed on the ball and always try to play out from the back. Our only minor blips came with losing possession from goal kicks, something we'll be working on in training this week. Sam had a another great day between the sticks, his catching is superb and his distribution always improving. Nathan hates being called our "Gareth Barry" but he did another solid job in front of the defence feeding the attack. Toby and Raff were both on fire today working hard on the wings whilst Tom and Finlay are fast becoming the new SAS (that's Shearer and Sheringham for the younger viewers) building an incredible partnership with 22 goals between them this season. A great left foot shot from Raff made it four whilst Finlay completed yet another hatrick for the 5th before another mazy run saw Tom brought down in the box and score the resulting penalty himself.

Another tough choice for Man of the Match but this week it went James N who twisted and turned his way around the CSA defence putting in some beautiful crosses whilst tracking back and winning the ball superbly when they were attacking - simply unplayable!

It is really great to see how much the boys are enjoying their football at the moment and they were really up for the challenge of the new division. Even when a decision goes against them, they just get on without complaining - great attitudes for such young heads!

Next week we're home AGAIN with a visit form Aldershot Jaguars - 10am kick off at Camelsdale.

The coach's lucky socks pay off again:
