2020 season to start with club game

Clarke XII v Foster XII

The match fee for all players on Saturday will be £10. Although no teas will be provided on the day, this fee will cover the cost for umpires, match balls, preparation of the ground and clubhouse facilities required due to the virus and a liquid trophy for the winning team. All subscriptions have been carried over to next season, so this income will be essential to running matches this summer.

Ideally, all players will pay their match fee by card to minimise the need to handle cash. Similarly, card payments at the bar will again be strongly encouraged, with cash transactions kept to a minimum.

Covid restrictions are as follows

Pre-match information for all participants:
•All participants must check for symptoms of COVID-19before travelling to the club. If anyone is symptomatic, or lives in the same household as someone witha possible infection, they should remain at home in line with the Government’s guidance, and not visit the club.
•Personal hygiene measures should be carried out at home before and after any cricket-related activity.
•Everyone at the club must adhere to the UK Government’s social distancing guidelinesat all times. The only exceptions to this –where a distanceof1metre+is permitted -are:oWicketkeepers standing up to the stumps andoThe distance between slip fielders.
•All participants should bring their own hand sanitiser where possible, and must maintain strict and frequent hand hygiene measures at all times. The club does have some hand sanitiser that can be provided, if people don’t have their own.
•All participants should follow the Government’s travel guidelines, minimising the use of public transport and limiting car sharing.
•The main room in the clubhouse will be closed during matches. The bar will be open for outside servicefrom 12pm, as during last weekend. The men’s and women’s toilets will be open, but there will be no changing facilities or communal areas open in the clubhouse.
•All participants (including players and umpires) should arrive changed and ready to start play, to minimise the time people spend congregating at the ground prior to the match.
•Specific areas will be marked out on the field for both teams to leave kit bags and to change into playing equipment. There will be sufficient space in these areas for social distancing rules to be maintained at all times.
•All participants should also be aware of the increased risk of transmission of the virus through group activities –even where social distancing is followed –and understand that they have opted to participate despite the knowledge of this increased risk.
•The club wil need to keep a record of contact details for all participants in the match. In the unlikely event that the club does not already have your contact details, please provide them to your captain on Saturday.

During the match:
•11-a-side cricket is permitted, as long as groups are limited to a maximum of 30 participants.
•There are no restrictions on the number of overs that can be played. Saturday’s match is scheduled as a 50-over game.
•All participants should maintain social distancing while preparing theirpersonal equipment and waiting to enter the field.
•All players should bring their own equipment where possible. Sharing of equipment should be kept to the bare minimum possible. If sharing of equipment is essential, hand hygiene must be practiced before and after use, and the equipment must be cleaned before it is used by another person.
•No sweat or saliva can be applied to the ball at any time.
•All participants must sanitise their hands before the start of the game.
•Hand sanitiser must be used during all breaks in activity, and before consuming food or drink.
•A “hygiene break” will be taken during every 6 overs of the game, or 20 minutes (whichever is sooner). During this break, the ball must be cleaned using an anti-bacterial wipe (this is the responsibility of the fielding captain), and all participants must sanitise their hands.
•All batsmen will need to sanitise their bat, and all wicket keepers will need to sanitise their gloves, when leaving the field of play.
•Bowlers should not hand any personal items to the umpire (including hats, jumpers, etc.), but instead leave them on the boundary.
•Batsmen must run in distinct running lines to maintain social distancing rules. Additional lines will be marked on the square to show the lines that batsmen should follow.
•Social distancing should also be followed during all wicket celebrations and drinks breaks.
•The number of fielders touching the ball should be minimised, i.e.it should not be thrown around the field between deliveries. The wicketkeeper should throw the ball directly back to the bowler where possible.
•No match tea or other food will be provided by the club. Players should bring their own food and drink to consume during the game, and this should not be shared between participants.
•Spectators must follow social distancing rules (by remaining suitably spread out, and not gathering in groups of more than 6), and must not have any contact with the ball.
•In the event of rain, participants should return to their individual vehicles, if there is insufficient outdoor cover to maintain social distancing.

After the match:
•All participants should sanitise their hands at the end of the game.
•Social distancing measures must be maintained after the match has been completed.
•Any shared equipment must becollected and disinfected.

Information for umpires:
•Umpires should not touch the ball at any time. It should be returned to the base of the stumps during breaks or when wickets fall.
•Only the umpires should touch the stumps or bails at any time.

Information for scorers:
•Social distancing must be maintained by the scorers, with only one person in the scorebox at any time.
•Communal scorebooks should not be passed from player to player.

But still enjoy being able to play cricket this summer
