Haverhill were involved in 2 entertaining games today with a total of 17 goals and 3 green cards, hence the reason we had 3 plonkers today who will remain nameless (for now anyway!)
The 2nds were 1st up away to Ely 2nds and for once Haverhill took an early 2-0 lead thanks to 2 short corner goals from Vicky Steed.
Ely pulled a goal back and threatened more before Sian Louise stepped forward with a scorcher from open play.
Ember Finneran then got in on the act with a couple of fizzing shots of her own. Steed completed a short corner hattrick before Sian got her 2nd. Tina Bunch could make no mistake and Steed rounded off the 9-2 scoreline. Stonker of the day was Jane Farrow who enjoyed a rare outing in midfield.
A much changed 1st team played bottom placed Bury 3rds and things didn't go quite to plan! Once again Haverhill gave themselves a mountain to climb by going 2-0 down, this time though they only had half a game left to try to claw something from the game.
It was difficult to see how that might happen until a moment of brilliance saw Clare Clark meet Max Sidebottoms cross and sweep it 1st time into the corner of the net. The crowd went wild and the comeback was on until 10 minutes later when Bury got their 3rd with a short corner strike in off the post.
Haverhill were not done yet though as they upped the pressure and got their reward when Abbi Pass scored from an impossible angle.
It seemed as if all was in vein but with 25 seconds to go Pass received the ball and with just the keeper to beat she found the net with a reverse stick finish ??
Just one defeat out of five games we've been losing, when the going gets tough the tough get goating!
