Michaels left the field just before half time with a suspected concussion after a clash near the half way line and did not return for the second period in an early change for the home side.
The only goal of the game came six minutes after the break, a direct ball forward allowing Tyger Smalls to get in front of his marker, take the ball inside the box and slot the ball past Fowler with a tidy finish.
The closest effort of the second period came Clacton’s way, a good strike by Ribchester 25 yards out after the home defence had backed off went just wide of the near left post with the shot being closer than a lot of others thought.
Ben Tait had a shot pushed over before this effort in Haverhill’s best chance as they secured the win.
