With just two games to go, the title in the bag, the Posties travelled to picturesque Whixley focussed on keeping the unbeaten record intact.

Saunders maintained his mantle of being the most complete tosser in the club by ensuring we batted first – Matt Williams took off where he left off in the 8 aside competition by taking the attack to Whixley and quickly clobbering 4s and 6s galore, Stelfox was slowly accumulating runs at the other end, Matt was the first to go, trying to fetch one from outside the off stump towards cow corner and edging one to the wicket keeper for 45.

Jim Hinks entered the fray and cut his first ball for a superb 4 and immediately set his tone, despatching every ball that had any width to the boundary looking in imperious form, Stelfox departed caught behind for 24, this signalled something of a mini collapse as Manton returned for 1 and Matt Frosdick collected another duck for his burgeoning collection.

Hinks and Saunders steadied the ship and then with Jim in the form of his life and a century a certainty Saunders inexplicably refused the easiest of singles, ignoring Jim repeated call of yes and both batsmen ended up at both end, Saunders refused the option of falling on his sword, and a very disgruntled Jim departed to the pavilion which he promptly attempted to dismantle.

Dan Fletcher departed for 4, which brought Mark Noblet to the wicket and they set about setting a competitive total, Nick partly atoned for his abhoration by accumulating a 50, and bravely batting on when what to most people in the team would have been a waist high full toss turned into a beamer and smacked him on the head, Nobby batted sensibly at first and then accelerated the run rate superbly with Nick to collect 39 off 31 including one particularly huge six. Nick finishing on 56 not out as the posties posted 259-7.

Matt Williams and Mark Noblet opened the bowling for the posties, Matt having forgotten his whites charging in wearing some lovely Australia rugby shorts, tanned legs pumping, hairs flowing as he reinforced his gay icon status, both bowlers quickly put the Whixley batsmen under pressure, Matt Frosdick taking a screamer of a catch in the slips off Nobby who kept a great line and length throughout.

Seven bowlers were used by the posties all to good effect as Whixley lost wickets at regular intervals, Manav Shah bowling some good stuff and collecting two wickets, Mike Knight collecting one, and the impressive Manton making this bowling lark look easy taking 4 for 8, Rob Willey bowled a tidy 7 overs for just 8 runs and one wicket, again showing the depth of ability in the Posties squad.

Whixley finally fell for 103 all out

Posties Win.
