Tuesday brought Senior Evening Cup action to a sun drenched Old Lane, as Church Fenton negotiated the long trip over for a 6.30 start.

Visiting skipper Wragg called correctly, and opted to have a bat, HBCC made some early headway with for the opening pair with 4 wickets for Mark Stelfox & 2 for John Myers as well as a run out assisted by Abhinay Srivastava, CFCC opener Steven Wragg saw numerous batting partners come and go before he fell for a useful 21. Mark Moorhouse staged some middle order resistance for the visitors before Mick Dancer intervened with what was to prove to be a decisive knock. Despite good bowling from Pavan Gaddam & Abhinay Srivastava who claimed a wicket apiece, Dancer held the Church Fenton innings together with a composed knock of 48 not out that kept CFCC’s scoreboard ticking through to the last over when Matt Williams took the final wicket, CFCC 94 all out.
James Dalby and Greg McManus opened the Headingley Bramhope response against Simon Willman and John Wilkinson, Willman accounted for Dalby in the 3rd over, clean bowling him for a duck. This brought Matt Williams to the wicket and he & McManus swung the momentum HBCC’s way, batting sensibly, running well as a pair and getting after any loose deliveries. When Matty was out for 26 in the 12th over with HBCC 53-2 the momentum swung strongly back in Church Fenton’s direction as wickets started to tumble with regularity, Greg McManus fell for a good 28, Dave Ward was unfortunately run out, and no one else was able to regain the momentum as HBCC were all out on the last ball for 83.
