On Friday 28th February, Moor's oldest living member, Jim Dearden, celebrated his 100th birthday.
A party was held for him that afternoon at the club, to which over a hundred family and friends attended to wish him a Happy Birthday!
Although not as active as he once was, he was in good spirits, with his usual dry wit to the fore.
During some sixty-plus years, Jim has been a stalwart supporter of the club, serving first as Groundsman and then as Social Secretary for a number of years prior to his retirement, raising valuable income for the club. His association with the Folk Nights, Friday-night discos and New Year’s Eve parties are now something of a legend within the club, before instigating the Heatons’ 10K Race, which ran for some twelve years in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
The whole club congratulates him on reaching this milestone and looks forward to next year’s celebrations.
