Refereeing is a great way to keep fit and stay in the game and meet hundreds of new friends. At its best it can lead to world-wide travel too. Recently, Manchester referees have travelled to Portugal, The Netherlands, Malta, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
I gave up the game through injury in 1974, joined the Referee Society in 1975 and am still refereeing nearly 45 years later. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and made loads of friends at clubs throughout the North West.

There are two RFO refereeing courses locally in the next three months. Details are listed below. The links are to the RFU web-site where you can register for the courses. The course costs £85 but if you join the Manchester Society this is refundable once you’ve done 10 games for them.
