It is with deep sadness that we have to report the death of Roger Wilkinson.

Roger joined the club in the early 1970s, making his 1st XV debut in season 1973/74 and was a member of the side that played Waterloo in the semi-final of the Lancashire Cup in that same season. He went on to play for most of the other club teams during his long and illustrious playing career, captaining the 3rd XV for a season in the mid-1980s and was always a proud and popular member of the ‘front-row union', finishing his playing career on the Vets. XV.

He was also a member of the club’s Executive Committee for a number of years in the role of Treasurer, being made a Vice-President in recognition of his service to the club, and continued his involvement in club administration with the Heatons Sports Club, after our merger with HMCTLC. Once funeral arrangements have been finalised they will be made public so that we can celebrate his life at the club.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with Sue, Kate and Chris and the rest of his family at this time.
