2nd half vs Stockport

Moor probably got the rub of the green (well white in yesterday's case) by playing back to games as Stockport desperately tried to warm up after their initial game v CUS Dublin. It won't have been easy for them after conceding 4 tries to see that side get 7 put past them!

But Stockport are made of strong stuff and more then 1 or 2 of their players looked very handy indeed.

And so it proved, Stockport were not fazed by the previous display and took the game to Moor with gusto. Arguably they were a little more dominant in the set piece but struggled to match the pace of the Moor backs who displayed another rip roaring performance. Amjad cutting through everything with consummate ease for another 3 tries, which again came from excellent loose work by the forwards.

Seb showed his strength by running half the length of the pitch, spinning out of tackles and pushing tacklers out of the way for a great individual try, with other forwards such as Oliver tackling all before him and Harry hitting every ruck and tying the ball in for the mauls too.

Stockport were not going to let Moor have it their own way and in an impressive passage of play saw them make huge inroads all the way to moor's 5 metre line only for them to lose the ball in contact that was picked up by the Moor back row of medium Zak and Big Zac and fed along the line to Amjad to score under the posts.

That is perhaps testament to the strength of our current side, it is fair to say we have 1 or 2 exceptionally talented and fast players but we also have exceptional players whose job it is to hit every ruck, make the tackles and generally deny the opposition the ball so the opposite side's superstars never see it. It's not necessarily the fast guys who win games, but perhaps the guys who put their body on the line to make sure the fast guys get the ball.

After saying that you might think a forward would win match of the day, but it was agreed that new boy Jacob H had yet another impressive game that was capped off with a wonderfully taken try against CUS Dublin and was this week's Man of the match. Well done Jacob!

It has been hard writing this weeks report without mentioning every player, because every player 'manned up' yesterday in what were fairly unpleasant conditions. All the players can take credit for sticking at it and putting on a great performance. Well done to our lads but also to CUS Dublin and Stockport for a great mornings rugby.
