A first half master class performance by Moor that left Tarleton shell shocked, in the Blacksticks Blue Vase Semi Final.

An all round top class effort in every department where forwards and backs linked in unison to provide what was the team’s best flowing rugby of the season. All this was after a stunning performance away at Southport in the quarter final. Moor ended the half with a 15-0 lead due to a hat-trick of tries from Jordon Murray. This could and should have been more considering the amount of possession Moor had but determined defending from Tarleton kept the game within their reach.

The early stages of the second half looked as though Moor would continue with their try scoring, but the bigger and heavier Tarleton pack began putting pressure on our forwards leading to a try from the visitors. Credit must go to the Moor forwards for standing up to the challenge of the bigger pack, showing great resilience and stamina, preventing Tarleton taking control. The game ebbed to and fro, neither side being able to dominate, the final Moor try came after great work pushing the opposition back on to their 5 metre line, a poor clearance kick was gratefully accepted by Dan McDonagh to run in at the corner. A great final effort from Tarleton saw them score under the posts with the last play of the game, making the final score 20-12.

Moor now face Leigh in the final to be played at Southport on Sunday 10th April.
