The club can confirm that this afternoon we have been advised by the FA that our postponed 2019/20 FA Vase Final against fellow Northern League club Consett AFC has now been rescheduled to take place at Wembley Stadium on Monday 3rd May 2021 (Bank Holiday Monday), Kick Off TBC. It has also been confirmed the game will be broadcast live on BT Sports.
Unfortunately the FA have also confirmed that due to the uncertainty of the ongoing lockdown/pandemic the fixture will not be allowed to have spectators!
The news that our loyal fans are unable to attend the clubs biggest game in our history is hugely disappointing for everyone not just at the club but within our community and wider non-league community. We are certain a huge contingent from the area would have travelled down to the event to support Kevin, Mick and the lads in what is going to be a fantastic game, however we will be looking at options to allow fans to view the game from The Green Energy Sports Ground in a socially distanced, safe way and will update everyone as soon as we can.
The clubs director of football Stephen Rutherford said “We are delighted that the FA have came up trumps with a date for this fixture to go ahead, but it is a huge pill to swallow as we know our superb fans can’t be there with us. The biggest game for our club, players, management and staff and we are behind closed doors!. I’m sure our fans will still offer tremendous support from back home whether they are at home or on the grass at the sports ground watching the big screen. This is huge occasion for everyone associated with Hebburn Town and our focus now is for preparing as best we can ahead of this momentous fixture”
The club will now look at planning for both the remainder of this years FA Vase schedule as well as preparations for the 2019/20 final. The club will continue to keep fans updated in the build up to the game over the coming weeks.
Special FA Vase final merchandise, virtual FA Vase Cup final tickets etc will be made available with a determined percentage of whatever is raised through these commercial opportunites being donated to our local charity Hebburn Helps Food Bank, so any support would be welcomed.
We’ll announce further details on this very soon
