Spartans star agrees loan with view to permanent deal

Horner joins on 28 day loan

Hebburn manager Kevin Bolam has not hung around after the departure of Jack Elliott and has secured the services of Vanarama National League North player Lewis Horner from Blyth Spartans on an initial 28 day loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Lewis, a midfield player who can also play full-back has the talent and ability that the club are looking to secure as part of its long term plans to progress through the leagues starting with promotion this season from the Northern League.

The 29-year-old has a wealth of ability and experience at the higher levels of the game as only a few seasons ago he was a professional plying his trade in the Scottish leagues with Hibernian, East Stirling and Inverness Caledonian Thistle before his move south to Blyth Spartans. Lewis is a great addition to the Hornets squad and will help hugely with his experience with the manic games schedule the club have over the next four week period.

Club Director of Football Steve Rutherford said: "We met Lewis earlier this week and talked about the club's vision and plans, we agreed this is a good move for the player at this time and it benefits both our club as well as Blyth as the player will be playing regularly. We'll use this initial period to have a good look with a view of a potential permanent deal with the club. He has great calibre as it was only a few seasons ago he was playing professionally in the Scottish leagues so we are really happy to have him on board with us. Lewis met the squad last night and we are hoping to have him available for Saturday's game at North Shields but await the paperwork to be completed first."

Please join us in welcoming Lewis to the club and making him feel at home within the Hebburn faithful.
